Should Paul Pogba walk straight back into Manchester United’s team amidst Mctominay injury scare?

Pereira is arguably the most likely to give way but this would either force Pogba to play as an out-and-out No.10 – a little further forward than his best position – or for there to be a change from the 4-2-3-1 formation that Solskjaer prefers, and which the team is getting used to and starting to make work. A formation change for this young side when just building momentum may not be a wise move and could interrupt the progress that’s being made.

Another reason to think twice before dropping Pereira is that the team will lose his prowess with set pieces and we could be back to Ashley Young taking the free kicks and corners. If that really is our second best option, then frankly it makes Pereira’s inclusion in the side very important indeed.

The other obvious option is for Pogba to replace Fred in the starting line-up. However, this could make the side a bit top-heavy with attacking players. Fred’s work rate and defensive skills far exceed those of Pogba and it would place a massive burden on McTominay to protect the defence single-handed.

Pushing Fred back into the holding midfield role and dropping McTominay is another option, but that presents similar problems to those that would be caused by swapping out Fred. Besides, McTominay has excelled in that role and surely merits a place in the starting XI. Indeed, all three – Pereira, Fred and McTominay – have been playing so well in recent games that despite a crying need for more creativity, none of them really deserves to be dropped. Of course, with Scott’s injury still being assessed as I write this, this might be all be a moot point.

Excess of luxury

You could argue that Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Pogba are all “luxury players”. Martial and Pogba, especially, are flair players who try the unusual and unorthodox; they are heavily technique-based, mercurial and unpredictable. And all three are inconsistent – brilliant one minute and incredibly frustrating the next. The question is, can you afford to have three such capricious players in one team? There can be moments or even entire games of brilliance, but you also know that a lot of possession and in Rashford’s case, chances, will be squandered as well. Again, for a young team like this current United side, maybe this is too much flair at this stage.

Work rate

One of the key ingredients of the Solskjaer method is the high press and high work rate of his side. This is not, and never will be, one of Pogba’s strengths. Whichever of the current starting XI you replace him for, you will be losing their energy and replacing it with his languid strutting. This dialling down of urgency and tenacity can sometimes transmit itself to the rest of the team.

Off-field distractions

Another thing that can distract and undermine the rest of the team is the Pogba media circus. He’ll be coming back into the side in December, just as the January transfer window rumour mill starts to heat up. His agent Mino Raiola will, no doubt, be stirring the paella pot and rekindling his courtship with Real Madrid. Do United really need that kind of grass-is-greener, want-away or pay-me-a-fortune-to-stay mentality to radiate from their main man at this stage?

How will it affect the rest of the team – a team that Solskjaer is trying to build from players who are committed to playing for Manchester United? As the team prepares itself for those big games, do we want the dressing room to be all about new contracts, new cars, new haircuts and new inane goal celebrations, or about how to win a game of football?

Look, I am not stupid. I know what a class player Pogba is and how desperately this team needs players of his quality and in particular, some creativity in the middle of the park. The issue for me is about how he is reintroduced and the effects of his early inclusion need to be considered very carefully. Solskjaer may be wise to just put the Frenchman back on the bench for the first couple of Premier League games and limit his starts to within an already rotated side against the likes of AZ Alkmaar or Colchester United. And in the meantime, let’s face it – what an option to have on the bench.

From Italy: Manchester United facing competition from AC Milan for Mario Mandzukic
Date: November 12, 2019
Manchester United will reportedly face competition from AC Milan in January for Mario Mandzukic, according to reports from Italy.

Reports have stated that United had reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Mandzukic to Old Trafford, with the Croat expected to cost around £10m.

Maurizio Sarri, who took over in the summer, has not handed Mandzukic one minute of action as the 33-year-old looks destined to leave in January.

According to Tuttosport, however, Milan are also keen to make a bid for the unwanted Juventus striker when the window opens.

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has already noted that Mandzukic was free to speak with other clubs, meaning that there could be a bidding war for the talented forward.

Reports surrounding the Mandzukic saga have always favoured United, who were keen to do a deal in the summer and were the first linked with him as the January rumours started to enter full bloom. One report from Italy claimed that it had all been agreed, and that Mandzukic would move to Manchester in December in order to settle.

As with rumours like these, United fans will just have to wait and see. It could be that the player is yet to make a final decision.

Europa League : Michael Owen predicts Man Utd vs Partizan clash.

Ex Manchester United and England international , Michael Owen, has predicted this week’s UEFA Europa League fixtures between man united and Partizan ahead of today’s clash.

Manchester United will take on Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday following a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, while Arsenal will tackle Vitoria on Wednesday evening in an away fixture.

Speaking with Betfair, Owen gave his predictions thus;

Manchester United vs Partizan: “United came up short at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday but I am prepared to forgive Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side for that defeat – their fourth away game in nine days – and feel they will take all three points against the Serbs and qualify for the knockout stages of the competition with two games to spare.

“Solskjaer may well field a young and inexperienced side but United are unbeaten in their last 10 home games in the Europa League and have yet to concede in the competition so far this season.”

Everton give latest update on Andre Gomes’s injury

Everton on Tuesday confirmed that midfielder, Andre Gomes, has been discharged from the hospital following the player’s horrific injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Premier League club made this known in a statement on the club’s official website.

The statement read: “Following a successful operation yesterday, Andre Gomes has now been discharged from hospital and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of the Everton medical team.

“The Blues midfielder underwent surgery to repair a fracture dislocation to his right ankle yesterday, with the procedure going extremely well.”

LOFT.NG recalls that Gomes suffered the horrific leg injury following a challenge by Tottenham’s Son Heung-min during both side’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Gomes was immediately taken to hospital in an ambulance, after being treated on the pitch.

Referee Martin Atkinson originally handed Son a yellow card, but quickly upgraded his decision to a red card, after seeing the extent of the damage to Gomes.

Chelsea fans left stunned after Marcus Rashford announcement at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea lost 2-1 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday thanks to two goals from Marcus Rashford.

Rashford’s first came in the form of penalty in the 25th minute to give United the lead but this was cancelled out thanks a powerful striker from Michy Batshuayi in the second half.

However, Rashford then got his second goal of the game after unleashing a screamer of a free-kick with just over 15 minutes left in the tie.

And while it was bad enough for Chelsea fans to see their side lose to a rival at home, the in-house announcer at Stamford Bridge was reportedly heard giving an “overly enthusiastic” announcement to both of Rashford’s goals.

Fans would usually expect a goal from the opposing side to be announced with the usual monotone conviction, however, according to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein, the announcer ditched the usual protocol.

He said: “On each occasion, after the England forward had put United ahead with a first half penalty, and then in the aftermath of his remarkable late free-kick which claimed the tie, the in-house announcer ditched the usual protocol when it comes to confirming visiting scorers – that trademark monotone laced with regret — and, instead, boomed out with gusto: ‘The goalscorer for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford!’

“He even added a bit of a flourish with his accentuation of the surname, as if auditioning for the role of ring announcer at a glitzy boxing bout.”

However, Ornstein did offer some explanation to Chelsea fans as to why they were forced to listen to an announcer appearing to happily add to their woes.

Solskjaer finally admitted he failed united fans for not signing this two players

Manchester United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer has finally admitted that he failed united fans for not signing this two players, Bruno Fernandez and Saidou Koulibali who has been very superb in there respective clubs.

United spent around £150m last summer on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James.

However, they recouped roughly half of that, through the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

As well as losing Lukaku, the likes of Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sanchez have all left the club since Solskjaer arrived.

“The money is there. We’ve been looking at players and we were close to a couple but it’s not right if you don’t get the right players. The money is there to strengthen in January and in the summer.

“We’re planning and we’re looking. We’re refining our targets, but just before the summer transfer window ended, the ready-made players weren’t there. But the resources are there if the right players are available.

“January is a difficult window, anyway. But if there are players available and at the right price, I’m sure we will spend. There might be some experienced players who can come in and help the younger players – that might be worth the money,” Solskjaer told reporters on Thursday.

shocking:as another man Utd star move to join Lukaku, Sanchez at Inter Milan

It’s shocking as another Manchester united star looks forward to joining Inter Milan in January transfer window.
Manchester united midfielder Namanja Matic could leave the club to join former team mates at Inter.

Matic has found himself out of the Red Devils’ starting XI this season.

He has featured in just four games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this term, with two of them coming in the UEFA Europa League.

The Serbia international is out of a contract at the end of the season and could leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Matic recently admitted that he has no rift with Man United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite his lack of game time at the club this season.

He said: “In the first two or three games he [Solskjaer] determined the team without me.

“I work as hard as I can, we respect the decision, it is mine to show him that he was wrong and to bring me back to where I belong.

“There is no problem. I told him I disagreed with him, but that he had to decide the team.”

Matic will now hope to start for Man United in their next Premier League fixture against Liverpool this weekend.

Var der Sar, who is currently the CEO at Ajax, has been mentioned as a candidate for the director of football position at United, which is still unoccupied.

The Dutchman joined the Red Devils in 2005 and went on to win three Premier League titles with the club, as well as the 2008 Champions League.

Van der Sar retired in 2011 at the age of 40 and went on to a career in management.

Man Utd vs Liverpool :Solskjaer had a crucial meeting with united board.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer has held meetings with Manchester united board and has came to conclusions over his job after a poor start of the season.

But the main agenda in those meetings, have been their next batch of transfer targets.

Solskjaer is under mounting pressure, after the club’s worst start to a Premier League season after eight games.

The Red Devils have won just twice and sit only two points above the relegation zone. They face league leaders Liverpool next and there have been suggestions, that another bad result and performance could see Solskjaer axed.

However, it is understood that Solskjaer’s job is safe even if United suffer a heavy defeat against rivals Liverpool, with club bosses conscious of the difficult task their manager has inherited.

They have already held a series of meetings with Solskjaer to discuss future signings and want to bring in four new players next year, one of which will be a centre-forward.

Allegri issues Man United conditions to replace Solskjaer

Former Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri has been tipped for the job of managerial position at united of which he’s not willing to accept this season.

The Red Devils have made a poor start to the new campaign and currently sit in 12th place in the table, just two points above the relegation zone.

It might get worse for Solskjaer, as they face league leaders and rivals Liverpool, after the international break.

Solskjaer fears another bad result could spell the end of his brief time in charge at Old Trafford, having only won four of 16 Premier League matches since getting the job permanently.

Allegri is one of the favourites to take over from Solskjaer and is currently out of work after leaving Juventus at the end of last season.

However, while Allegri is open to taking over at United, despite their current struggles, he is only willing to make the move if it happens sooner rather than later.

The Italian tactician is currently on a sabbatical and is not keen on the idea of taking over a club mid-season, which would deprive him the chance to make signings and establish his philosophy.
